The Nissan-owned Japanese automaker Datsun has silently updated its budget offering redi-GO just recently. The most bankable product from the company has now received some safety upgrades that would surely give it an upper edge over the rivals. And for me it?s a good move as I was planning to buy small hatch for my daily commute from home to office and vice versa. The new Datsun redi-GO now comes with a standard anti-lock braking system which prevents the vehicle from locking up during hard braking, hence maintaining traction with the surface. This is an important feature if we look from the perspective of the number of road accidents happening in our country. The ABS will also become mandatory in all the passenger vehicles starting from April 1st 2019 and well before that the carmaker has played safe. Apart from this, all the variants of redi-GO also get three-point seatbelts, rear stop lamp and rear door child safety lock. I will be buying the top spec S variant that gets added safety features such as driver's side airbag, LED daytime running lights and remote central locking. In terms of comfort also, this car is unmatchable in the segment it falls in. You get electric power steering, air conditioner with heater and ventilator, Bluetooth audio handsfree calling and music streaming, remote tailgate opener, remote fuel lid opener and accessory socket. The car features drive computer which shows info on instantaneous fuel economy, distance to empty, average fuel economy and trip meter. The car also gives an excellent fuel economy of 22kmpl. All in all, if you have a decent budget of around Rs. 4.50 lakh, Datsun redi-GO gives you a lot for that price.
