We tested the one-liter turbo in its 100bhp form, with the five-speed manual box. If you want a car that will do anything other than city runabout, the Hyundai i20 is probably the best car. The first spec of i20 motivation you'd tolerate. As with much else about the i20's dynamics, the powertrain does the job but doesn't have you grinning. Once the engine's spinning is above 2,000 RPN, it's willing enough, and it'll run all the way to almost 7,000rpm. But you wouldn't bother, as it's not an especially chirpy example of the three-cylinder turbo type, and does its best work in the mid-ranges. The 0-62 KMPH is 10.8sec because this is a slimline car at 1,085kg.
