Tata Motors has launched yet another utility vehicle in the India automobile bazaar. This latest vehicle is christened as Tata Movus, which is powered by a 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel power plant. It is available in numerous trim levels among which, Tata Movus CX is the entry level variant. This trim comes with seven seater option with captain seats in the first row and bench seats in the second and third row. This trim has standard utility features like a heater, power steering, an instrument panel and several other such aspects. The best part about this vehicle is its neatly done up interiors and cabin space, which is quite huge. On the outsides, it has tip-tap ORVMs, black colored door handles and bumpers. However, it has also been elegantly decorated with stylish body graphics, which gives it an asserting look. This vehicle is available in only two body paint options, which include Arctic Silver and Arctic White. On the other hand, it comes with an impressive 3-year or 100000 kilometer warranty, which can be further extended to 1-year or 50,000 kilometres. This utility vehicle will compete with the likes of Mahindra Xylo, Chevrolet Tavera and others in its segment.

Exteriors:

This latest SUV has a large body structure, which is equipped with basic exterior features. To start with the rear profile, it has a large tailgate featuring a wide windscreen, company's badge and a black colored appliqué. It is surrounded by a clear lens taillight cluster that comes incorporated with high intensity lamps and turn indicators. The rear bumper is in black color and is equipped with a pair of reflectors. Its side profile looks pretty large with great height and length. The wheel arches have been skilfully fitted with set of conventional 15-inch steel wheels that are further covered with high performance 215/75 R15 sized tubeless radial tyres. The frontage has black colored bumper features a large air intake section and a pair of air ducts. The radiator grille too is in black, but it gets chrome inserts on its slats and on the company's insignia. Surrounding this grille is the aggressive headlight cluster, which features a powerful halogen headlamp and side indicators. This SUV comes with a total length of 4421mm and with an impressive width of 1780mm (excluding external mirrors). Its total height is calculated at 1940mm and the wheelbase at 2550mm, which is quite impressive.

Interiors:

As said above, the interiors of this Tata Movus CX trim is quite spacious with ample leg, shoulder and head room. The car maker has built this SUV with a large wheelbase of 2550mm and an impressive height of 1940mm, which makes the cabin roomy. This utility vehicle can host seating for at least seven passengers in 2+3+2 arrangement. Although, the interior plastic quality is average, the manufacturer has managed to achieve a neat finish inside and given it an Ebony Black color scheme. The seats are wide, well cushioned and have been covered with vinyl upholstery with fabric inserts. The door panels have been bestowed with dual tone handles and magazine pockets, which are complimented by fabric inserts. Despite being the entry level trim, it is bestowed with several important utility aspects like cabin fan, bottle holder, mobile holder and a number of other features.

Engine and Performance:

This newly introduced SUV is powered by a 2.2-litre VARICOR diesel engine that is currently performing for Safari Storme and Aria. However, the manufacturer has done some changes to this motor in order to improves its durability and performance. It is now integrated with a latest CSC+SAC clutch that maintains the constant clutch efforts for the entire lifestyle. It has 4-cylinders, 16-valves that makes 2179cc . It can develop a maximum power output of 118.35bhp at 4000rpm that results in a commanding torque output of 250Nm in the range of 1500 to 3000rpm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox that helps in producing a decent mileage of 16 Kmpl.

Braking and Handling:

This Tata Movus CX trim is bestowed with a highly proficient braking and robust suspension mechanism. The car maker has coupled the front wheels with disc brakes in combination with single pot calipers , while the rear wheels have been bestowed with drum brakes. As far as the suspension is concerned, its front axle is equipped with independent double wishbone type of suspension system that is loaded with coil springs. At the same time, the rear axle is paired with parabolic leaf spring that keeps the vehicle well balanced. In addition to these, the car maker has incorporated a hydraulic rack and pinion based power assisted steering system, which offers a precise response.

Comfort Features:

This base variant is equipped several utility based features, which are quite standard. The list of features include a highly responsive power steering with tilt adjustment, heating system, front room lamp, tip-tap external wing mirrors, an illuminated ignition key slot, magazine pockets in the door trims , vinyl+fabric seat upholstery and many other such aspects. The car maker has also given features like bottle holders, sun visor with vanity mirror, mobile holder in central console, cable operated remote fuel flap, an alternator interior fan, mud flaps and door trims with fabric inserts. In addition to these, this trim comes equipped with an advanced instrument panel with adjustable light intensity function along with a speedometer and digital trip meter.

Safety Features:

The manufacturer is offering this base trim with standard safety features, which are somewhat helpful. It comes with an anti glare inside rear view mirror that provides better visibility of rear. It also has motorized headlamp adjustment device and high mount third brake light, which adds to the road safety. On the other hand, it is equipped with height adjustable seat belts, child lock and driver door ajar warning warning as well.
