After months of intense testing, Mahindra India has officially rolled out the facelifted version of its most popular SUV, Scorpio in India. This time, the automaker has revised its entire model lineup and introduced it with new variant nomenclature. It is made available in numerous trim levels among which, Mahindra Scorpio S6 8 Seater is the mid range trim. This variant is powered by a 2.2-litre, mHawk diesel engine, which is now mated with a newly developed 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. As a result of this, shifting of gears are now smoother, while its fuel economy has slightly increased. The main highlight of this facelifted version are its refined exteriors and interiors that have several new cosmetics. Its exteriors are fitted with newly designed LED tail lamps, radiator grille and modified bumper, which gives it a sophisticated look. The car maker has also updated its interiors by redesigning the dashboard, steering wheel and instrument cluster. This mid range trim is incorporated with features like a proficient music system, power steering and manually operated AC unit. It also has crucial safety aspects like engine immobilizer and three point ELR seat belts.

Exteriors:

This refurbished version has a captivating external appearance as it has undergone a major cosmetic overhaul. On its front facade, its headlight cluster gets sleeker and is equipped with powerful halogen lamps along with turn indicators. The radiator grille too has been tweaked as its vertically positioned stripes are now treated with chrome. Furthermore, this SUV is fitted with a masculine bumper that houses a wide air dam along with a pair of air ducts. The bonnet went through a slight modification, but retains its air intake scoop. The car maker has also updated its side profile by revising its window frames and wheel arches, which distinguishes it from its predecessor. This trim has several trendy features like body colored door handles, ORVMs and window frames. Furthermore, its wheel arches have been fitted with a set of conventional steel wheels, which are covered with terrain capable tubeless radial tyres. There are a few noticeable changes made to its rear profile, which adds to the brand new look. The taillight cluster is repositioned and is now incorporated with LED brake light and turn indicators. Apart from this, its tailgate and the windscreen too have been revised that emphasizes its brand new appeal.

Interiors:

The interiors of this Mahindra Scorpio S6 8 Seater trim has a brand new interior design with dual tone color scheme. Its cockpit has a distinctly designed dashboard that houses a refreshed instrument cluster and a slightly tweaked center fascia. In addition to this, its air vents gets a rectangular design and has a chrome surround. Furthermore, the seats are slightly tweaked with better lumbar and thigh support, which certainly provides enhanced comfort. This eight seater trim has individual seats in first row while its second and third rows are fitted with bench seat, which can be folded. The most attractive aspect of interior is its instrument cluster that has a multi-functional display. It provides information related to vehicle's speed, tachometer, trip-meter, digital clock, gearshift indicator and a few other warning functions. Its steering wheel is now designed with four spokes and is decorated with a lot of aluminum inserts along with company's insignia. The car maker has incorporated several utility based features like dual front sun visors with passenger's side vanity mirror, front center armrest, drink holders, map pockets, accessory power sockets and folding rear seat.

Engine and Performance:

Powering this latest version is the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that has the common rail fuel injection system. It comprises of 4-cylinders and 16-valves that displaces 2179cc. This DOHC based engine is also incorporated with a turbocharger, which helps it to belt out a maximum power of 120bhp at 4000rpm and generates a superior torque output of 290Nm between 1800 to 2800rpm. This powerful engine is now mated with an indigenously developed 5-speed manual transmission gearbox that transmits the torque output to the front wheels. The automaker claims that this refurbished version has the ability to produce a peak mileage of 17 Kmpl, which is quite good.

Braking and Handling:

This facelifted version is blessed with a proficient braking system with front discs and rear drum brakes, which delivers a reliable performance irrespective of weather condition. As far as its suspension is concerned, its front axle is now fitted with an independent double wishbone type of suspension, while the rear axle is paired with multi-link system including anti roll bar. Furthermore, both the axles are loaded with coil springs, which reinforces this mechanism. On the other hand, the car maker has also incorporated an advanced hydraulic power assisted steering system that supports a minimum turning radius of 5.4 meters, which is remarkably good.

Comfort Features:

This Mahindra Scorpio S6 8 Seater trim is equipped with quite a lot of comfort features, which contributes towards fatigue free driving experience. This mid range trim is being offered with a 2-DIN music system that has a CD player with MP3 decoder and supports connectivity ports for AUX-In and USB devices. This variant also has a proficient AC unit including a heater and rear roof mounted AC vents, which provides a pleasant environment inside. The list of other features include dual front sun visors, power steering with tilt adjustment, accessory power socket, power windows with one touch operation, internally adjustable ORVM caps, side step and an inside rear view mirror. Furthermore, it also has aspects like cup holders, a large glove box, storage pockets and several other such features.

Safety Features:

This refurbished version is built with an all new lightweight ladder chassis that is strong and features impact protection beams, which provides maximized protection to the occupants inside. It also has features like engine immobilizer with encrypted key recognition system, tubeless radial tyres, and 3-point ELR seatbelt. In addition to these, this trim has aspects like powerful headlamps, dual horns, central locking system, door open indicator, driver's seatbelt notification and other such aspects.
